Humans living in contemporary western society have, by large, severed their connection with nature. In my self-portrait series, Reconciliation, I seek to reconnect with the natural world and embrace the sense of magic and wonder that nature inspires within me. The long exposures required by pinhole photography allow me to create images in which I blend with – and am often overwhelmed by – my natural surroundings. This provides a visual commentary on man’s interconnectedness with nature and creates a symbiotic relationship between humanity and the natural world of which we are inextricably a part.
