It’s cherry blossom season! This means lots of Japanese cultural events to photograph, including several tea ceremonies both in Philly and NYC. I hope the rain doesn’t wash out the festivities planned for this Sunday at the Horticulture Center in Fairmount Park. http://jasgp.org/cherryblossomfestival/index.php?option=com_eventlist&Itemid=178&func=details&did=49
Classes are cranking away at the studio, and wedding season is upon us, which means bachelorette parties and shoots. Get in touch if you want to plan something for that special bride-to-be!
I don’t have any travel plans until the end of May, when I head across the pond for
Blood & Thunder’s training camps in Birmingham and Dublin. I’ve always wanted to go to Ireland, ever since some friends described a hostel they’d stayed at there; it was an old castle right on the precipitous edge of the sea, waves crashing beneath. Unfortunately, the camp is scheduled for June 4th and 5th, which means for the first time in nearly a decade, I won’t be able to attend Exotic World. This is pretty crushing, and I very nearly opted out of scheduling the training camp because of it, but practicality won out. Sigh.

Our second round of classes at the newly dubbed Studio Noir Finishing School starts on September 18th, and includes offerings by members of Philly’s beloved Peek-a-boo Revue, as well as another Vintage Hairstyles class with Bettina May. There’s a new website dedicated to the School, so check it out for details and registration:

I will be opening up Studio Noir Philly with a weekend of classes by myself and some stellar guest instructors, including Bettina May, (vintage hair styles), Fleur de Lys, (basic costuming), and Jen Zak, a.k.a. Gin Minsky, (pin-up and stage make-up). Go to the “Studio Noir Finishing School” page on my commercial site for details and registration information:
